Deb Webber - Medium & Psychic to Australia

Wednesday 21st April 2010 7pm
Deb Webber is a Medium and Psychic to Australia. Her chilling accuracy on Network 10's series "SENSING MURDER" is only a small testimonial to this woman's talents.

"SENSING MURDER New Zealand" went to Number One across the country and is now being shown all over the world on FOX.

With a weekly column in "WOMAN'S DAY" going strong and private readings through the roof, Deb still manages to find the time to tour. She has been seen on "Sunrise" Channel 7, "GMA with Bert Newton" Channel 10 and ACA on Channel 9. Her reading with Rhett Hutchence about his late brother Michael (INXS) brought about a huge awareness of her ability after she revealed definite details of their lives that Rhett had never told anyone.

On A Current Affair, Deb left presenter Chris Hill nearly in tears and he coined the saying "Life After Death Is Still A Mystery But Life After Deb Will Never Be The Same."

Daryl Braithwaite

23rd April 2010
It would be hard to find a voice that captures the mood of a song more perfectly than this on. It's the voice that soars with inspiration, soul and warmth.

The voice of course belongs to Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite.

In a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years, Daryl Braithwaite is one of Australia's award winning premier performers.

His initial success as a singer came with Sherbet, a band which forever remains in the history books of Australian music. Throughout the 70's, Sherbet produced 20 national Top 40 singles and were the first Australian band to top the one million dollar mark in album sales in the country with a total of 15 albums and 30 singles!

Following the success of Sherbet, Daryl returned to the Australian music scene in a very big way as a solo performer in 1988 with the release of the phenomenally successful album "Edge" which spent well over a year in the national charts. Edge spawned four hit singles with "As The Days Go By", "All I Do", "Let Me Be", and the gold single "One Summer". The album itself topped the ARIA charts in 1989 and became the highest selling CD in CBS Australia's history.

Walk the Line - A Tribute to Johnny Cash

14th May 2010
A tribute to Johnny Cash - the man and his music.

The music of Johnny Cash spanned almost 50 years from the start of his career in 1955 with the legendary Sun Records, right up to his death September 12, 2003. He continued recording and performing not only his own songs, but songs written by other artists, in each case bringing his own unique style and perspective to the presentation.

He did not confine his style to country music, showing a great understanding for the Rock ‘n’ Roll genres in which he made his widest impact on a worldwide audience. In his foray into cover songs he favoured tunes not only his contemporaries such as Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Neil Young but also chose an eclectic mix of newer writers from Nick Cave to Nirvana, U2 and the Nine-Inch Nails to express darker emotions.

The show covers over those 50 years of Johnny Cash classic songs, illuminated with anecdotes of his life and adventures, and will leave the audience with a greater understanding and appreciation of the man Johnny Cash and his music.

The show is fronted by veteran performer Rohan Powell whose baritone voice has graced theatre stages and smoky hotel venues across Australia and in many parts of the world. Well-known in concert venues around Australia for his work in Acoustic Juice, Rohan has performed in operatic productions, rock bands and recorded an album of country-crossover originals in Nashville. Amber Poulten, one of the finest female voices in this country plays the role of June Carter.

Walk the Line, Australia’s number one Johnny Cash Show hits the road hot on the heels of the highly successful Johnny Cash biographical movie, Walk the Line.

4th June 2010
Friends, Queens of Country Music, Real Women…. In 'Honky Tonk Angels', Miss Loretta Lynn, (played by look-alike Country Queen, Miss Amber Joy Poulton), comes to town and shares some of her favourite music and stories from her life and times as one of country music's most loved performers.

As well as a string of knee-slappin' country mega-hits, from hill-billy to city-slick, 'Honky Tonk Angels' relives the amazing story' of these remarkable women, their friendships, their contribution to music, their ideas and the progression of women...in the country as well as the city.

The band cooks and Loretta sings up a storm.....Some of the songs: You're Lookin' At Country, One's On the Way, The Pill, Don't come Home A' Drinkin' With Lovin' On Your Mind, Fist City, You Aint Woman Enough To Take My Man, I Fall To Pieces, Crazy, Silver Threads And Golden Needles, Jolene, Nine To Five, These Boots Are Made For Walkin', Islands In The Stream. Festivals, cabarets, 'dinner and show', special event... 'Honky Tonk Angels' are Country Music Heaven!

At the beginning of 2009 Amber Joy was selected as a Top 10 Grand Finalist in Tamworths’ world famous Toyota Starmaker competition. Tamworth was just the beginning, as 2009 has been full to the brim with her Loretta Lynn Tribute Show, ‘Honky Tonk Angels’ and her first original album, ‘Taking Goodbye’, co-written and produced by TIARA Best Male Vocalist, Doug Bruce. - TalkFringe.com.au

"Amber Joy Poulton is a hidden gem tucked away in the Cathedral Hotel. Backed by the Holy Boys, Amber encompasses the persona of Loretta Lynn who takes us on her personal journey as one of the Country's most influential female singer/songwriters. Amber's voice is exquisite and the support from her band resonates with this wonderful show. In the audience were Country fans and non-Country fans, either way, everyone had a fantastic time. Just a shame there were only 2 performances." - "Fringe Review: Honky Tonk Angels – The Story of Loretta Lynn and Friends - STEPH GLASER

Amber Joy Poulton provides plenty of polyester and big country hair, along with several “y’alls” and even a twangy “tarnation!”, in the cabaret show Honky Tonk Angels – The Story of Loretta Lynn and Friends.

Performing for nearly two hours straight with her four-man band The Holy Men, Poulton appears as the iconic Queen of Country Music. With unwavering energy, she sings multiple Loretta Lynn hits including “Coalminer’s Daughter”, “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’(With Lovin’ on Your Mind)”, “One’s on the Way”, “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl”, “Wine Women and Song”, and “Dear Uncle Sam”.

In between songs, and in character, Poulton tells the story of the sassy Lynn. She has an easy rapport with the audience and The Holy Men – especially bass player Denis Surmon, with whom she sings a few duets and trades good-natured insults. According to Poulton, The Holy Men are “the band from hell”, while Surmon reports that Poulton, donning an emerald-green polyester gown, is “a toothpick with lettuce wrapped around it”.

During the second part of the show, Poulton sings favourites by Honky Tonk heroines Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline and June Carter Cash. However, she really gets the audience clapping, tapping and stomping when she belts out Linda Ronstadt’s “When Will I Be Loved?” and later Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Were Made for Walking.”

Ultimately, Poulton’s country charisma is confirmed when she gets the men in the audience to sing along to Shania Twain’s “Man! I feel Like a Woman”.

Christmas in July – Featuring Mental As Anything with the Party of Five

23rd & 24th July 2010
A popular urban myth concerns a group of art students who passed themselves off as a band in order to con the local publican into giving them a gig in exchange for free beer. The deception worked better than intended, and the group came to be known as Mental as Anything. Nearly two decades later, they are still irritating the public with their highly listenable, idiosyncratic brand of garage pop.

A self-explanatory single to reflect their success, The Nips Are Getting Bigger, rose through the charts as did their fundamental understanding of the old adage that 'for every action there is a reaction'. Ahead lay a very lengthy pub crawl which only the accomplished could survive.

Supporting the Mentals are “Party of Five” who over the last five years have been entertaining at venues all over Adelaide, the band plays a huge variety of past and present hits!

All the members of the band are well known in the local music scene, and create a great party atmosphere with songs that you just got to get up and dance too!
